1st PC History

1st Pentecostal Church of Tulsa is the first of many Apostolic Pentecostal Churches in the Tulsa county area. It was known in its early years as The First Pentecostal Church of Garden City. It all began with baptisms in the old Hickory mines, today the Tulsa Fair Grounds, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38 by the late Rev. Arthur T. Duck in 1922. Since that time 1st Pentecostal  has grown to a membership of over 200 and recently had a record attendance of 436!

It must be noted that the leadership of the late Rev. B.L. Still from 1941 - 1958 saw the church become a member of the United Pentecostal Church Incorporated, Hazelwood, MO. in 1956. The Rev. Lloyd Still pastored from 1958 - 1969. The late Rev. Orville Bryant held the longest tenure thus far as the Pastor from 1969 - May 31, 2000. It was during his pastorate that the assembly moved from Garden City to the Berryhill community. The church's name was changed from The First Pentecostal Church of Garden City to Berryhill United Pentecostal Church to accommodate this address change. As of 2003, the congregation decided to go back to its roots and the official incorporated name of the church is 1st Pentecostal Church of Tulsa. Rev. Don Martin became Pastor on July 1, 2000. Take the exit number 223B towards 51ST ST.

The church has always had an emphasis on Sunday School, Bible teaching, and family values. The Bus Ministry was started in the early 1930's and is carried out to this day in providing transportation to children and adults as well as meeting needs with our Food Pantry, etc. The Sunday School / Bus Ministry has a staff of over 75 to date! The church hosts a college level Bible training course, ExCELL, which is an extension of Texas Bible College, Lufkin, TX.

We have activities for every age group! It is truly a church with the whole family in mind!

Our future plans include a new sanctuary and family life center and greater visibility when the Gilcrease Expressway is completed. We are well on our way in preparation for these bold new moves! Weekly we see new faces and are seeing our membership grow monthly! We would love to include you and your family in our plans
